Racing Incident Report
JET RISE and CONSTELLATION began awkwardly. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, A-TACK, which was racing ungenerously, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CONSTELLATION. On straightening, WINNING ATTORNEY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of WYNDAM PLENTY. Also on straightening, FLASH MAC was awkwardly placed inside WYNDAM PLENTY which itself was tight inside MAJIN BUU. Near the 200 Metres, FLASH MAC was shifted to the outside of WINNING CHAMP which was giving ground. In the run to the winning post, SUPER SPECIAL hung in. For the major part of the race, MAJIN BUU travelled wide and without cover. C Brown (GIFTED RUNNER) said he had been instructed to have the horse travel in midfield if possible. He said GIFTED RUNNER began well and he did not ride along in the early stages to allow other runners to go forward. He said near the 800 Metres after A-TACK had gone forward of him, he did apply some pressure to GIFTED RUNNER in an attempt to follow that horse forward, however, GIFTED RUNNER immediately became awkward in its action particularly in front. He said GIFTED RUNNER continued to race awkwardly and even making the Home Turn remained unbalanced. He said because of the manner in which GIFTED RUNNER travelled the horse got further back than intended. F Coetzee (WYNDAM PLENTY) said he had been instructed to lead if possible. He said WYNDAM PLENTY which usually begins quickly was not standing well in the barriers and as a consequence only began fairly. He said he rode along in an endeavour to go forward, however, JET RISE was able to improve easily through on his inside shortly after the start. He said after this he was crossed by WINNING CHAMP and WYNDAM PLENTY did not travel comfortably. He said he rode WYNDAM PLENTY along throughout the race, however, from the 600 Metres the horse was under heavy pressure and prior to straightening commenced to give ground. He was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of WYNDAM PLENTY other than to say the horse might not have been suited when unable to lead. WYNDAM PLENTY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WYNDAM PLENTY after the race did not show any significant findings. G Mossé (WINNING CHAMP) explained he rode the horse forward from a wide barrier as instructed. He said he did not have to ride vigorously to obtain a position outside JET RISE in the lead, however, WINNING CHAMP had used itself to go forward and as a consequence in the Straight gave ground. WINNING CHAMP was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WINNING CHAMP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING CHAMP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CONSTELLATION and JET RISE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted JET RISE had spread its left hind plate.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 23 March 2006)
WYNDAM PLENTY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. WYNDAM PLENTY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C W Chang this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have significant lower back pain. Before being allowed to race again, WYNDAM PLENTY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
