Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, TOP HONOR became fractious and had its left hind leg momentarily caught on the side bar inside the barriers. TOP HONOR was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. PILLOW KING began awkwardly, bounded in the air and then bumped with TOP HONOR which shifted out. As a consequence, both horses lost ground. On jumping, SING FAY FAY got its head up, shifted out and bumped EASY GAME. Also on jumping, LUCKY MONEY knuckled, then from a wide barrier travelled wide and without cover throughout. After the 400 Metres, SUPER WONGCHOY was shifted to the inside of LUCKY STALLION to obtain clear running. At the 250 Metres, EASY GAME, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of LUCKY MONEY to obtain clear running. Then at the 100 Metres, EASY GAME, which was continuing to close the race off, was unable to obtain clear running between WADADELIGHT and SING FAY FAY and near the 50 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of SING FAY FAY. Near the 100 Metres, GOLCONDA, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside SUPER WONGCHOY which improved into a narrow run on the inside of PHANTOM THIEF (Apprentice K L Chui) which at this time shifted in slightly. Apprentice Chui stopped riding and straightened his mount, therefore no action was taken. In the Straight, PHANTOM THIEF hung in and proved difficult to ride. M W Leung (MY LUCK) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he was instructed to obtain the box seat from the inside draw which he was able to do. He said MY LUCK travelled satisfactorily until prior to straightening, however, when placed under pressure did not respond. He did say after the race MY LUCK appeared to be blowing heavily. MY LUCK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MY LUCK after the race did not show any significant findings. In the circumstances, the performance of MY LUCK, a last start winner on turf, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MY LUCK will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EASY GAME, WADADELIGHT and SING FAY FAY were sent for sampling.
