Racing Incident Report
ALL OUR WAY and RAINBOW DIAMOND were slow to begin. On straightening until after the 200 Metres, SILVER MARK was held up and unable to obtain clear running. At the 250 Metres, KNIGHT TEMPLAR was steadied when endeavouring to improve between SPEED OF LIGHT and FIREWHEEL. At the 150 Metres, KNIGHT TEMPLAR was shifted to the outside of FIREWHEEL to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, SPEED OF LIGHT travelled wide and without cover. D Dunn (SUDDEN SPLENDOR) explained his horse would not relax in the early and middle stages when racing between horses in the lead. He said after the 800 Metres SUDDEN SPLENDOR became unbalanced in its action and at the 600 Metres came under pressure. He said near the 250 Metres when giving ground SUDDEN SPLENDOR was inclined to lay in towards the hindquarters of SNIPER which at this time was shifting to the outside of HAPPY ALL AROUND to obtain clear running. He said because of the manner in which SUDDEN SPLENDOR was racing, he checked his mount away from the heels of SNIPER. He said had SUDDEN SPLENDOR been racing truly, he would not have had to take evasive action to avoid SNIPER when that horse shifted out. He said after this SUDDEN SPLENDOR gave ground and in his opinion was most disappointing. SUDDEN SPLENDOR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUDDEN SPLENDOR after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SUDDEN SPLENDOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SNIPER and SILVER MARK were sent for sampling.
