Racing Incident Report
After the majority of the field was boxed, EXCELLENT PARTNERS became fractious and broke out of its stall underneath the front gates. In doing so, EXCELLENT PARTNERS sustained a significant injury to its left hind leg which resulted in the horse requiring attendance by the equine ambulance. Acting on advice from the Veterinary Officer that EXCELLENT PARTNERS was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. As such, the remainder of the field was removed from the barriers and because of the requirement of EXCELLENT PARTNERS to be attended to, the start of the race was delayed significantly. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported EXCELLENT PARTNERS was severely lame in the left hind leg. A further release will be made in relation to EXCELLENT PARTNERS after the horse has undergone a thorough clinical examination tomorrow. PEACH BLOSSOM was slow to begin. Near the 900 Metres, MURCIELAGO was steadied away from the heels of MAJIN BUU. Near the 800 Metres, MURCIELAGO, which had been hard ridden to hold its position, became unbalanced and was checked when crowded for room inside CONSTELLATION which initially got its head on the side and shifted in of its own accord, then shifted further away from SMARTY FACE as that horse shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 800 Metres, RAINBOW EXPRESS became unbalanced and lost ground. For some distance after the 600 Metres, BEAMING RIVER raced ungenerously and proved difficult to settle when initially close to the heels of WINNING CHAMP and then afterwards close to the heels of MAJIN BUU. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, PEACH BLOSSOM hung out. In the early part of the Straight, WINNING CHAMP hung in and proved difficult to shift out into clear running. After the 200 Metres, MAJIN BUU got its head on the side and hung in. RAINBOW EXPRESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RAINBOW EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. CONSTELLATION, SMARTY FACE and MAJIN BUU were sent for sampling.
