Racing Incident Report
G Mossé, the rider of LIAOBUQI, which was fractious on the way to the Start, dismounted from LIAOBUQI which was then led by a handler to the barriers. LIAOBUQI was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Whilst dismounted from LIAOBUQI, G Mossé reached out, grabbed the left rein of VINCERE and led that horse for a short distance. G Mossé was severely reprimanded and advised he was not to make contact with another horse during the preliminary. BUDDIES POWER was slow to begin. LIAOBUQI knuckled over on jumping. BEST CHOICE was checked shortly after the start when crowded for room between SILVERBIRD and NICKU NICKU which after initially being taken in by KAO AND MING shifted further away from that horse. Near the 1200 Metres, KAO AND MING was steadied away from the heels of MUTUAL GAIN, shifted out and bumped BUDDIES POWER. SILVERBIRD, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Passing the 1200 Metres, BEST CHOICE got its head up when being restrained away from the heels of CAPABILITY. Approaching the 700 Metres, KAO AND MING shifted out and bumped SILVER MARK. After this, SILVER MARK raced three wide but without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, MUTUAL GAIN was checked off the heels of KINGSTON WINNER. MUTUAL GAIN then shifted to the outside of KINGSTON WINNER and for a short distance raced tight between that horse and BUDDIES POWER which shifted in slightly. Then near the 150 Metres, MUTUAL GAIN was steadied when BUDDIES POWER again shifted ground slightly. Passing the 300 Metres, CAPABILITY and SILVER MARK became unbalanced after making contact as a result of SILVER MARK (R Fradd) shifting in. R Fradd was advised to make more effort to keep his mounts in a straight course in future. M Nunes reported KINGSTON WINNER, which tailed out, did not feel right in its action. The performance of KINGSTON WINNER was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, KINGSTON WINNER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VINCERE, O Doleuze stated in his opinion the horse was not suited by tonight's track surface which although rated good did have some "cut" in the ground. He added with top weight of 132 lbs VINCERE did not travel well during the race and even as far out as 1000 Metres from home VINCERE was having difficulty holding its position. WATCHMAN, which weakened in the Straight after travelling wide and without cover throughout, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WATCHMAN after the race did not show any significant findings. VINCERE and KINGSTON WINNER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of VINCERE and KINGSTON WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. LIAOBUQI and CAPABILITY were sent for sampling.
