Racing Incident Report
AWESOME DRAGON was withdrawn on 16.1.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore suspensory ligament) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter COME HO CHOI (S Dye). Before being allowed to race again, AWESOME DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, SPOKESMAN was taken across behind runners. Despite being ridden along vigorously in the early stages, BARRACUDA failed to muster speed, after passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied when awkwardly placed between LA MERVEILLE and FUJIAN PRINCE, then travelled wide and without cover, in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. The performance of BARRACUDA was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BARRACUDA will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From the outside barrier, SUNRISE RAINBOW was ridden into a forward position, however, travelled wide and without cover, in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. The performance of SUNRISE RAINBOW was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SUNRISE RAINBOW will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the 400 Metres, SPOKESMAN was steadied and shifted to the outside of DRAGON STRIDE. After the 100 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT was shifted in away from the heels of RAIN IN SPRING which was hampered and carried wider by VITAL PATROL which when shifting out into clear running got its head on the side, commenced to hang out and shifted abruptly. No action was taken. FUJIAN PRINCE, SUNRISE RAINBOW and BARRACUDA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FUJIAN PRINCE, SUNRISE RAINBOW and BARRACUDA after the race did not show any significant findings. KING HOGAN and VITAL PATROL were sent for sampling.
