Racing Incident Report

MANZIL was withdrawn on 3.2.07 by order of the Stewards (bereavement) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAKE A MINT (D Oliver). After being boxed, GREAT HERO was fractious. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT HERO will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was slow to begin. On jumping, SWEET BABY and INVESTAR bumped. SUN AWESOME began awkwardly. Near the 800 Metres, MILLION CHASE and SWEET BABY were steadied when hampered by INVESTAR which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. After this, SWEET BABY raced ungenerously for some distance. Near the 400 Metres, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which had improved to be racing close to the heels of SUPER RED, was steadied and shifted in. Near the 300 Metres, MAKE A MINT was steadied away from the heels of DAYLIGHT EXPRESS (Y T Cheng) which shifted in when barely clear. Near the 200 Metres, INVESTAR was steadied away from the heels of DAYLIGHT EXPRESS which shifted further when not properly clear. Y T Cheng was told whilst the Stewards accepted DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was hanging in, he nonetheless should make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. At the 150 Metres, GREAT HERO, which was commencing to close the race off, was checked to avoid the heels of SUPER RED which was giving ground. RACING SPIRIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, RACING SPIRIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no any significant findings other than the horse had lost the right front plate. SILENT DRAGON and CIRCUIT HERO were sent for sampling.
