Racing Incident Report
PICTURE PERFECT began awkwardly, then lost further ground when crowded for room between TRIUMPH and LIAOBUQI which on jumping shifted out. MOVE IT was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FREEBIRD failed to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied away from the heels of BOLD WIN. At the 1100 Metres, FREEBIRD, which was racing ungenerously, was checked when awkwardly placed inside VICTORY TURBO and close to the heels of BOLD WIN. At the 200 Metres, VICTORY TURBO was momentarily steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running between ENCHANTED and TRIUMPH which was giving ground. At the 100 Metres, TRIUMPH was bumped by VICTORY TURBO which at this time was shifted to the inside of the heels of ENCHANTED. For the major part of the race, LIAOBUQI travelled wide and without cover. The performance of PICTURE PERFECT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, PICTURE PERFECT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, S Dye said at its last start SOLAR did not relax properly and as a consequence failed to finish the race off. He said therefore tonight when SOLAR was relaxed in the early stages, he was satisfied to allow it to shift to the fence and travel at the rear and some distance off MOVE IT. He said he commenced to improve his position after the 600 Metres, initially considered going to the outside of MOVE IT, but then at the 400 Metres when that horse shifted out he decided to shift back to the rail to save ground making the turn. He said after straightening he commenced to ride SOLAR along and while the horse did respond it did not close off in the manner in which it has in the past. He said approaching and passing the 100 Metres he steadied his mount and shifted to the outside of MOVE IT as in his opinion the run which existed to the inside of that horse was closing due to MOVE IT commencing to shift in and LIAOBUQI shifting out when giving ground. He said after this SOLAR finished the race off fairly. S Dye was told where clear running is available, particularly at vital stages including the Home Straight, he would be expected to take advantage of such runs. LIAOBUQI and CLASSA SUPREME were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LIAOBUQI and CLASSA SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. DIAMOND ERA and CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN were sent for sampling.
