Racing Incident Report
TOM'S SIX was withdrawn on 1.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease). SING FAY FAY was withdrawn on 2.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury). Before being allowed to race again, TOM'S SIX and SING FAY FAY will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LEADING AHEAD was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, PRETTY TRIO failed to muster speed. After the 800 Metres, LEADING AHEAD, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of RUM SHOT. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, PRETTY TRIO was steadied when awkwardly placed between LEADING AHEAD and inside the heels of HONEY MONEY. At the 400 Metres, PRETTY TRIO, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of HONEY MONEY. At the 250 Metres, RUM SHOT, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between HONEY MONEY and ROCKET WIN which shifted out slightly. For the major part of the race, WELL NOTED travelled wide and without cover. D Whyte (GLOBAL WIN) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said in the Straight when under pressure GLOBAL WIN appeared to shorten in its action and did not respond to his riding. He said on pulling up following the race GLOBAL WIN made an abnormal breathing noise. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GLOBAL WIN and RUM SHOT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GLOBAL WIN and RUM SHOT after the race did not show any significant findings. ROCKET WIN and LEADING AHEAD were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 4 June 2007)
RUM SHOT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. RUM SHOT was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, RUM SHOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
