Racing Incident Report
SYDNEY EXPRESS was withdrawn on 17.9.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ALL OUR WAY. Before being allowed to race again, SYDNEY EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 1500 Metres, QUEST FOR LOVE and ALL OUR WAY were steadied when crowded for room between HERE WE GO and DON RICARDO, both of which shifted ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, ON SHAN BRAVE and SUNBELL, which had been racing wide and without cover, were steadied and taken back. In the early stages, KING HOGAN proved difficult to settle. Passing the winning post, ALL OUR WAY attempted to savage KING HOGAN. Mr A Schutz, trainer of the horse, was advised a warning would be recorded against the horse and should it perform similarly in future, further action may be taken. Apprentice C W Wong, the rider of ALL OUR WAY, will be interviewed regarding his use of the whip on the horse after passing the winning post. For the major part of the race, BEST POWER travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (HERE WE GO) said he had been instructed to endeavour to lead on the horse tonight as its previous performances in Hong Kong have been disappointing when racing in a rearward position. He added as he was able to dictate the race at a steady tempo from the front, HERE WE GO performed creditably. The Stewards interviewed E Saint-Martin regarding the performance of FANTUZZI. Prior to finalising the matter, they will speak to Mr J Moore, trainer of FANTUZZI. FANTUZZI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FANTUZZI after the race did not show any significant findings. DON RICARDO, KING HOGAN and HERE WE GO were sent for sampling.
