Racing Incident Report

MEGA BULLET began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of RIGHT FRAAR. As a consequence, MEGA BULLET lost ground. RED WINE HONEY was slow into stride. TREMENDOUS PLUS began awkwardly. From a wide barrier in the early stages, ROCKALOT was taken back to find cover. At the 700 Metres, ROCKALOT was carried wider to a position without cover when RIGHT FRAAR shifted to the outside of KING’S COURT. Throughout the race, ELEPHANT DANCE travelled wide and without cover. Apprentice K T Yeung (SOMETHING SPECIAL) explained throughout the race his mount travelled in a rearward position, however, was obliged to cover ground. He said approaching the Home Turn he commenced to improve his position when following ROCKALOT, however, that horse did not appear to be travelling well and therefore prior to straightening he shifted to its outside and continued going forward. He said SOMETHING SPECIAL responded nicely in the early part of the Straight, however, over the final 250 Metres did not sustain its run. When questioned regarding the improved performance of RIGHT FRAAR compared with its most recent run at Sha Tin on 30 March 2008, Mr J Size, trainer of the horse, explained in his opinion when the horse last raced, it was not suited by the slow tempo of the race which resulted in the horse travelling in a forward position without cover. He said today’s race was run at a more genuine tempo which enabled RIGHT FRAAR to be ridden in a midfield position with cover which benefited the horse. AMAZING CHOICE and ROCKALOT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AMAZING CHOICE and ROCKALOT after the race did not show any significant findings. SOMETHING SPECIAL, RIGHT FRAAR and ROCKET AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
