Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the saddling stalls, NICE KING had its left hind plate refitted. NICE KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NICE KING began awkwardly. MI REILLY began awkwardly, then lost further ground when crowded for room between LUCKY QUALITY and TIGER RIDGE, both of which shifted ground. As a consequence, MI REILLY got back. In the early stages, from a wide barrier, TIGER RIDGE was taken back. After the 1000 Metres, LUCIA became unbalanced and shifted in. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DREAM HORSE was unable to maintain a forward position and then travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and making the turn at the 800 Metres hung out. Approaching the turn at the 700 Metres, CHATER POWER became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside TREASURABLE. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, LUCIA was checked when crowded for room between LUCKY QUALITY and LUCKY RED which got its head up and shifted out while hanging. No action was taken. At the 500 Metres, TIGER RIDGE was steadied when awkwardly placed between NICE KING and MI REILLY. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, TIGER RIDGE had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, LUCIA hung in and proved difficult to ride. DREAM HORSE, LUCIA and LUCKY RED were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DREAM HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to its right hind coronet. A veterinary inspection of LUCIA and LUCKY RED after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY QUALITY and WILLING STORM were sent for sampling.
