Racing Incident Report

BRILLIANT FLASH was slow to begin. BATURO, which was standing with its head turned to the right, began awkwardly and lost ground. SPICY FRUITY and AMAZING FORTUNE were slow into stride. At the 1300 Metres, STRIKING MASCOT, which was being hard ridden to make up ground, was checked when disappointed for running inside BATURO which at this time was carried in by AMAZING FORTUNE (B Prebble) which shifted to the inside of GALLANT HUSSAR. In the circumstances, B Prebble was severely reprimanded. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, BRILLIANT FLASH was steadied away from the heels of AMAZING FORTUNE while racing tight between KEY WINNER and BATURO. Throughout the race, GALLANT HUSSAR travelled wide and without cover. M Du Plessis (GALLANT HUSSAR) reported that after straightening his mount made a significant abnormal breathing noise and because of this he did not persevere in riding his mount out to the finish. In the circumstances, the performance of GALLANT HUSSAR was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, GALLANT HUSSAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPICY FRUITY and GALLANT HUSSAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SPICY FRUITY and GALLANT HUSSAR after the race did not show any significant findings. AMAZING FORTUNE, FAIR WIN and DASHING CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
