Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, the tongue tie fitted to DECENT FELLOW was replaced. COME HO CHOI was slow into stride. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DECENT FELLOW failed to muster speed. After the 1700 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN, which had been hanging in, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of ALL FOR ONE. Near the 1600 Metres, EMBRACES was steadied away from the heels of SERIOUS PLAY which shifted out after being bumped by KING OF TURF which had been hanging in and then shifted out after being bumped by COME HO CHOI (Apprentice T H So) which shifted out. Apprentice So was told to exercise greater care. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ENERGETIC BOY raced tight inside LITTLE BIG BOY. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN, which was racing tight inside EMBRACES, was steadied away from the heels of KING OF TURF. After the 1000 Metres, EMBRACES, which was laying in, became unbalanced. After the 800 Metres, KINGSTON TEMPLE was checked away from the heels of SERIOUS PLAY. For a considerable distance approaching the 500 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN was carried back by KING OF TURF which was giving ground. Near the 500 Metres, when CALL ME CULLEN shifted out from behind KING OF TURF, SERIOUS PLAY and KINGSTON TEMPLE were hampered and carried wider. When giving ground near the 500 Metres, KING OF TURF became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside ENERGETIC BOY. Near the 100 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of ALL FOR ONE. The performances of LITTLE BIG BOY and KING OF TURF, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, LITTLE BIG BOY and KING OF TURF will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of ALL FOR ONE, B Prebble said his mount began awkwardly and then felt uncomfortable in its action for a number of strides. He said because of this he looked down to ensure nothing was amiss with the horse. He said for a short distance after this ALL FOR ONE travelled reasonably, however, for the major part of the race felt unbalanced in its action. He said at the 800 Metres he realized ALL FOR ONE would not figure in the finish because of the manner in which the horse was travelling. He said in the Straight when giving ground ALL FOR ONE shortened noticeably in its action. ALL FOR ONE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of ALL FOR ONE after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, ALL FOR ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SERIOUS PLAY, H W Lai explained whilst the horse had performed well on rain affected ground in the past, its best performances had always been when travelling in a position with cover. He said tonight after beginning well he rode along in the hope of obtaining a forward position, however, near the 1600 Metres when a number of runners held their positions to his inside and he was bumped, he then steadied his mount in an attempt to obtain a position with cover. He said as he did this, other runners improved to his inside and as a consequence he was left racing three wide and without cover throughout the race. He said in his opinion because of this SERIOUS PLAY performed poorly. DECENT FELLOW, LITTLE BIG BOY and SERIOUS PLAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DECENT FELLOW, LITTLE BIG BOY and SERIOUS PLAY after the race did not show any significant findings. SURE GAIN and ENERGETIC BOY were sent for sampling.
