Racing Incident Report

BIG PROFIT was withdrawn on 4.2.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, BIG PROFIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, MR BLACKBERRY stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, MR BLACKBERRY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. LAMBRO began awkwardly. Shortly after entering the Straight, FIRM OFFER was steadied away from the heels of REGENCY WINNER which shifted out. Near the 300 Metres, FIRM OFFER was checked away from the heels of DOUBLE LUCK before being held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres. Then near the 150 Metres, FIRM OFFER was shifted out away from the heels of ABLE SPEED and REGENCY WINNER to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, ABLE SPEED travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the performance of BERIO, D Whyte stated that the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early part of the race, however, from the 600 Metres came off the bit and then was disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding in the Straight. He said, in his opinion, BERIO did not handle today’s yielding track conditions. A veterinary inspection of BERIO after the race did not show any significant findings. BERIO, PRIME CHAMPION and REGENCY WINNER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MR BLACKBERRY had bled from both nostrils.
