Racing Incident Report

MAGIC TEMPLE and SUPREME TAIJI were slow to begin. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BE MY SONG. At the entrance to the Straight, CAGA SPIRIT became unbalanced when attempting a run between BE MY SONG and MR VIGOROUS where there was insufficient room. Throughout the race, CHARMGOLD travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Apprentice K C Leung (MR VIGOROUS) stated that he was obliged to go forward when caught wide. He said, in his opinion, the use he was obliged to make of MR VIGOROUS in the early stages was the principal reason behind the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of MR VIGOROUS after the race revealed that the horse had an intermittent displacement of the soft palate. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPREME TAIJI, JUMBO GOLD and SEA PRINCE were sent for sampling.
