Racing Incident Report

As O Doleuze was overweight, permission was granted for Y T Cheng to be substituted as the rider of GREEN PEARL. O Doleuze was fined the sum of $5,000. After being loaded into the barriers, LET ME HANDLE IT became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, LET ME HANDLE IT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Approaching the 1400 Metres, OPEN SESAME was steadied when crowded for room between LET ME HANDLE IT and JOYFUL WINNER which shifted in when barely clear. Passing the 1000 Metres, MR TOPAZ shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of GIVE WELL which itself was taken in at this time by JOYFUL WINNER. Passing the 300 Metres, Apprentice T H So (MR TOPAZ) dropped his whip. Throughout the race, JOYFUL WINNER travelled wide and without cover. J Lloyd (FUN HEROES) reported that the horse hung out in the Straight. When questioned, B Prebble stated that after being loaded, LET ME HANDLE IT became very fractious and reared on a number of occasions. He said then when the barriers opened, LET ME HANDLE IT was steadied away from the heels of GIVE WELL which shifted out and because of this LET ME HANDLE IT was obliged to race further in the field than he had hoped. He said LET ME HANDLE IT travelled well until rounding the Home Turn at which time it became unbalanced after being bumped by OPEN SESAME which shifted out. He said because of this LET ME HANDLE IT was unbalanced for a short distance in the early part of the Straight, however, when shifted to the outside responded to his riding. He said whilst LET ME HANDLE IT finished off the race well, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited on a firmer track than today’s. A veterinary inspection of FUN HEROES after the race did not show any significant findings. LET ME HANDLE IT, SUPER GENKI and MOON CHASER were sent for sampling. <28/6/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that OPEN SESAME had a stiff and restricted hindlimb action with moderate back pain on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, OPEN SESAME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
