Racing Incident Report

NAPA II was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, KINGSTON ELITE was crowded for room between MARK UP and GO LUCKY GO which was taken in slightly by DORDENMA. In this incident, KINGSTON ELITE bumped the hindquarters of MARK UP which became unbalanced. After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, PACKING BUDDY was shifted across behind runners passing the winning post on the first occasion when travelling wide. In the early stages, MARK UP proved difficult to settle. Shortly after entering the Straight, GO LUCKY GO (Apprentice K W Leung) was shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with the hindquarters of PACKING BUDDY which became badly unbalanced. SHANGHAI PIONEER, which was racing to the outside of PACKING BUDDY, was hampered in consequence. Apprentice Leung was reprimanded and advised to exercise care when shifting ground in future. In the early part of the Straight, REGENCY WINNER had some difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, DORDENMA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CARDED after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CARDED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NAPA II, NATIONAL TREASURE and HAPPY PRESTIGE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HAPPY PRESTIGE had lost its right hind plate.
