Racing Incident Report

IRIAN , which initially proved difficult to load, will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being allowed to race again. Whilst attempting to load IRIAN, the horse dislodged its right front plate which necessitated it being replated. IRIAN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, in his opinion, it was suitable to race. Due to the necessity to replate IRIAN, all runners, with the exception of PACKING WINNER and NOBLE CONQUEROR which proved reluctant to back out from the barriers, were unloaded for a short period. After beginning awkwardly, ROMPING lost further ground soon after the start when crowded for room between LUCKY NINE and SUNNY KING, both of which shifted ground. FELLOWSHIP and SUPER SATIN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. D Beadman (ABLE ONE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SUPER PISTACHIO, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of NOBLE CONQUEROR which was checked as a consequence. When NOBLE CONQUEROR was checked, FELLOWSHIP, which was following, was steadied and shifted out and hampered SUPER SATIN. FELLOWSHIP then raced awkwardly on the heels of NOBLE CONQUEROR for some distance. D Beadman was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 18 October 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Monday, 11 October 2010 on which day he was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Thursday, 23 September 2010. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, FELLOWSHIP was held up behind PACKING WINNER and NOBLE CONQUEROR and was unable to improve its position. Over the final 50 Metres, FELLOWSHIP was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNNY KING. As a consequence, FELLOWSHIP was not able to be fully tested as it normally would be. For the majority of the race, IRIAN raced wide and without cover. H W Lai, the rider of DREAM TEAM, was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that his mount was well beaten at the 200 Metres, he should nonetheless push his mounts at least in a hands and heels fashion right to the finishing line. LUCKY NINE and ABLE ONE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUNNY KING had lost its left hind plate and had sustained a cut to its left hind heel and that AASHIQ had sustained a cut to its left hind leg.
