Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that GOLD JOINT had lost its left front plate. After this plate was refitted, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, LEAD THE PROSPECTS reared in the gates and then on landing blundered badly, resulting in its rider, J Lloyd, almost being dislodged. Because of this, LEAD THE PROSPECTS lost a considerable amount of ground at the start and then took no active part in the race. Before being allowed to race again, LEAD THE PROSPECTS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Passing the 400 Metres, Apprentice C Y Ho (INFALLIBLE CHOICE) dropped his whip. Near the 350 Metres, JOYFUL YEARS was steadied away from the heels of GLITTERING which got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, INFALLIBLE CHOICE and GOLD JOINT bumped due to INFALLIBLE CHOICE shifting in. When questioned, D Whyte was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of FAIRY DRAGON as the horse did not respond to his riding at any stage of today’s race. Mr Y S Tsui, the trainer of FAIRY DRAGON, said that the horse had trained on well since its most recent start and a forward showing was expected today. He did say however that FAIRY DRAGON’s racing form had been flattered as he had prepared the horse to run well in the early part of the season when the quality of the opposition in this class was questionable. A veterinary inspection of FAIRY DRAGON and LOTS OF FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUPREME GOLD had bled from both nostrils. FAIRY DRAGON, KIMBER FORTUNE and GOLD JOINT were sent for sampling.
