Racing Incident Report

GRAND VINS was withdrawn on 26.12.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right front foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DAILY DOUBLE (J Lloyd). Before being allowed to race again, GRAND VINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FIERCE was slow to begin. BIG CHIEF and RED RULER made heavy contact at the start, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced. From outside barriers, SOHNA and NEW LEADER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied approaching the 1200 Metres, JIMSON THE BEST got its head up and proved difficult to settle. Passing the 900 Metres, DANEWIN TIGER was bumped by SAMMY’S FALCON which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPICY SHRIMP. Throughout the race, FOR AARON travelled wide and without cover. The performance of FOR AARON, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FOR AARON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. J Lloyd reported that he placed DAILY DOUBLE under pressure in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not appear to be comfortable in its action and as DAILY DOUBLE was not in a competitive placing, he eased the horse down over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of DAILY DOUBLE after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, DAILY DOUBLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SPICY SHRIMP was making an abnormal breathing noise. SAMMY’S FALCON and JIMSON THE BEST were sent for sampling.
