Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed when WO AI NINN proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, WO AI NINN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. WO AI NINN was slow to begin. MAJESTIC HEART began very awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1600 Metres, HO HO LIFE was checked when crowded for room between NORDIC STAR and ARION OF CHIU TON which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from AMITYSHIP. Near the 450 Metres, WO AI NINN shifted out and bumped HEAR THE ROAR, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Rounding the Home Turn, WO AI NINN raced tight between HEAR THE ROAR and NORDIC STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out. In this incident, WO AI NINN made contact with the hindquarters of HEAR THE ROAR which became unbalanced. TIME LEGEND was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and shortly after entering the Straight was steadied when disappointed for running between ARION OF CHIU TON and NORDIC STAR which shifted in. Near the 300 Metres, WO AI NINN shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of NORDIC STAR. Near the 100 Metres, WO AI NINN was steadied away from the heels of MAJESTIC HEART which shifted in when improving past that horse.
An inquiry into the reason for ARION OF CHIU TON, AMITYSHIP and ANTIPASTO being crowded for room near the 1300 Metres was adjourned until prior to the running of the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on Sunday, 20 February 2011. The Stewards will also question Apprentice M L Yeung regarding the performance of ANTIPASTO. A veterinary inspection of ANTIPASTO after the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards opened an inquiry into M Chadwick’s handling of VILASOL. After taking evidence from Jockey Chadwick and Trainer B K Ng, the inquiry was adjourned until a date to be fixed. A veterinary inspection of AMITYSHIP after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. HO HO LIFE and HEAR THE ROAR were sent for sampling.
