Racing Incident Report

TRAVEL PRINCE began awkwardly. FOR AARON began awkwardly and then was steadied when crowded for room between POTENTIAL and FORTUNE BUNNY which shifted in. For some distance after the 700 Metres, TRAVEL PRINCE raced tight between POTENTIAL and CHATER POWER which shifted out. In this incident, TRAVEL PRINCE bumped POTENTIAL on a number of occasions, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced. Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE GENERAL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHATER POWER while CAGA SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASTER RIO. Throughout the race, TRAVEL PRINCE and POTENTIAL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of FORTUNE BUNNY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE BUNNY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, D Whyte (FORTUNE GENERAL) stated that he had been instructed not to ride FORTUNE GENERAL along in the early stages and to position the horse off the speed. He said although FORTUNE GENERAL began well, he steadied his mount shortly after the start to allow CHATER POWER to cross as he did not wish to ride FORTUNE GENERAL along to maintain its position inside that horse. He said after this FORTUNE GENERAL had a good run behind CHATER POWER which had a number of runners positioned to its outside. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FOR AARON had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL PRINCE after the race did not show any significant findings. MASTER RIO and FORTUNE GENERAL were sent for sampling.
