Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, OCEAN WIDE had its right front plate reset. OCEAN WIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Shortly after the start, TIME AFTER TIME shifted out and bumped ROCKET PROUD. Near the 500 Metres, INVINCIBLEKINDNESS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CARRY THE ZEAL. Throughout the race, ROCKET PROUD travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, D Beadman stated that approaching the first turn he steadied TIME AFTER TIME with a view to shifting in behind CARRY THE ZEAL. He said as he did this, TIME AFTER TIME proved difficult to settle and was slow to respond to his riding. He said this allowed INVINCIBLEKINDNESS the opportunity to shift away from the fence and obtain the position behind CARRY THE ZEAL which he was pursuing. He said after this he attempted to remain racing in a three wide position outside INVINCIBLEKINDNESS, however, TIME AFTER TIME raced in restricted room between INVINCIBLEKINDNESS and SUPREME FAY FAY, both of which shifted ground. He added for this reason he was not able to maintain his position between those horses and near the 700 Metres he shifted TIME AFTER TIME in behind INVINCIBLEKINDNESS. When questioned, T Angland stated that he had been instructed to ride GROOVY midfield or behind midfield as at its most recent start the horse had over-raced when ridden in a forward position and had not finished off its race. He said for this reason he did not push GROOVY out of the barriers as he did not want the horse to get over-racing. He said GROOVY shifted out at the start and then shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of STORM UNICORN which was taken in by FORTUNE GENERAL which got its head on the side and shifted in. He said after this he urged GROOVY along to make up lost ground, however, making the turn after the 1000 Metres GROOVY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of FORTUNE GENERAL and became awkward. He said after this GROOVY did not want to settle and shifted ground on a number of occasions. He added making the turn after the 600 Metres GROOVY shifted out towards the heels of FORTUNE GENERAL when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TIME AFTER TIME. He said he had intended to shift GROOVY to the outside of runners if possible in the Straight, however, rounding the Home Turn, in his opinion, he would have had to take hold of GROOVY and lose ground to shift out around the heels of FORTUNE GENERAL. He added making the Home Turn GROOVY again got its head up and shifted out towards FORTUNE GENERAL. He said when placed under pressure in the Straight GROOVY finished off the race well. CARRY THE ZEAL and SUPER PLUS were sent for sampling.
