Racing Incident Report
VICTORY MASCOT, which was leaning on the inside of its gate, was slow to begin. GIVE WELL shifted out abruptly at the start and then after the 800 Metres got its head on the side and hung out. GIVE WELL continued to hang out badly in the Straight despite the efforts of its rider and shifted towards the outside fence, resulting in VICTORY MASCOT being taken extremely wide and being hampered on a number of occasions by GIVE WELL. Trainer A Lee was advised that having regard to GIVE WELL’s previous racing history and the manner in which it had hung out today, GIVE WELL would be required to pass a series of official barrier trials around a bend prior to being permitted to race again. Mr Lee was further advised that should GIVE WELL hang out to a marked degree in either official barrier trials or in any future races, the Stewards would consider recommending to the Board of Stewards that GIVE WELL be compulsorily retired. From wide barriers, EASTERN EMPIRE and SHIFACHI TRADITION were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1600 Metres, HO HO LIFE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FUN HEROES which got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle. Over the final 50 Metres, SUPER BOBO was not able to obtain clear running and consequently was not properly tested. A veterinary inspection of GIVE WELL after the race did not show any significant findings. HEAR THE ROAR and SUMMER DASH were sent for sampling.
