Racing Incident Report
CARTHAGE was slow to begin. At the 1600 Metres, RIO WILLIE was steadied away from the heels of LET ME HANDLE IT. At the same time, OUTDOOR PEGASUS was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY TOUCH which itself was awkwardly placed on the heels of CARTOON FAY FAY. M Chadwick (BEAUTY TOUCH) dropped his whip at the 300 Metres. K C Leung (HEAR THE ROAR) was warned for failing to declare he would be a probable 2 lb overweight at the time of declaration. When questioned, D Whyte stated that after being obliged to race wide and without cover throughout the race, SAPELLI was immediately under pressure on straightening and commenced to give ground quickly. He said that although he did not fully test SAPELLI over the latter stages, it was a beaten horse at that stage. He added that he had explained to Trainer J Size that SAPELLI raced like a tired hose. A veterinary inspection of SAPELLI after the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that LET ME HANDLE IT travelled quite well throughout the early and middle stages. He said that after straightening LET ME HANDLE IT initially responded to his riding and sprinted for a short distance, however, its run came to an end and LET ME HANDLE IT failed to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of LET ME HANDLE IT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CARTOON FAY FAY at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ZAIDAN had lost its left front plate. SMART GIANT, ZAIDAN and KING OF SCOTS were sent for sampling.
<28/11/2011 Addition to Racing Incidents Report>ZAIDAN proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, ZAIDAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
