Racing Incident Report
MATSUKAZE began awkwardly. DREAMS MAKER was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, THANKSGIVING was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. For some distance after the 1100 Metres, THANKSGIVING proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY CHEVALIER. Making the turn passing the 900 Metres, SPICY SIAM was momentarily crowded for room inside F S WINNER which was awkwardly placed inside LUCKY CHEVALIER. After having difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight, TRIUMPHANT WAY was shifted to the outside of TARREGA approaching the 300 Metres. TRIUMPHANT WAY then again had difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to improve into a tight position between TARREGA and JOHN DORY. After the 200 Metres, SPICY SIAM hung in under pressure and close to the line shifted ground inwards. Because of this, SPICY SIAM was not ridden right out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Throughout the race, MATSUKAZE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of MATSUKAZE after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MATSUKAZE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MATSUKAZE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also throughout the race, SUPER CAGA travelled wide and without cover. JOHN DORY and TARREGA were sent for sampling.
