Racing Incident Report

CARTOON FAY FAY shifted out at the start, hampering RIO WILLIE. From a wide barrier, WRATH OF FIRE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, PACKING WHIZ was crowded for room between HEAR THE ROAR and DELTA HEDGE which shifted in. Passing the 1400 Metres, VICTOR DELIGHT proved difficult to settle and had to be checked away from the heels of KING OF SCOTS for some distance. After the 1400 Metres, CARTOON FAY FAY was left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to stride into the lead on the rail. Near the 1300 Metres, RIO WILLIE became unbalanced after being checked away from the heels of BEAUTY TOUCH. Near the 1000 Metres, HAPPY GUYS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEAR THE ROAR. After the 400 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR was shifted out after being disappointed for running inside TRAVEL BRAND. Approaching the 200 Metres, BEAUTY TOUCH was shifted to the inside of the heels of HEAR THE ROAR when disappointed for running between that horse and HAPPY GUYS which shifted in. When questioned, T Angland stated that he had been instructed to lead on HAPPY GUYS if possible. He said HAPPY GUYS began only fairly and he was required to urge the horse into a forward position. He said after obtaining the rail passing the 1600 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR, which was over-racing, improved to his outside and due to the manner in which that horse was racing, he felt that it would continue on and rather than be caught in a speed battle with that horse, he elected to allow HEAR THE ROAR to cross. He said no sooner did he do this than HEAR THE ROAR was steadied by its rider to allow TRAVEL BRAND to cross which resulted in HAPPY GUYS racing further back than had been intended. A veterinary inspection of CARTOON FAY FAY after the race, which weakened noticeably in the Straight, did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, CARTOON FAY FAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACKING WHIZ and REAL SPECIALIST were sent for sampling.
<30/4/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> CARTOON FAY FAY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CARTOON FAY FAY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, CARTOON FAY FAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
