Racing Incident Report

On jumping, MAC ROW became very unbalanced when crowded for room between HELENE FUN STAR and SEA DIAMOND which shifted in.
Shortly after the start, BEST WIN was steadied away from the heels of HELENE FUN STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, VAUGIRARD failed to muster speed.
Near the 750 Metres, SHINY DAY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHEETAH BOY.
HELENE FUN STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Near the 200 Metres, VAUGIRARD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TOUR DE FORCE (D Whyte) which shifted in abruptly. For this reason, D Whyte changed his whip into his right hand.
Also near the 200 Metres, MAC ROW was steadied away from the heels of CHEETAH BOY which was giving ground.
Over the concluding stages, STRATHTAY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAC ROW (Y T Cheng) which got its head on the side and shifted in under pressure. Y T Cheng was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.
For the majority of the race, FLYING CHAPARRAL travelled wide and without cover.
D Whyte, the rider of 7th placegetter, TOUR DE FORCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards [Rule 100(2)]. D Whyte was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, TOUR DE FORCE’s chances of finishing in 4th placing had been compromised by his failure to ride it out over the concluding stages. Accordingly Jockey Whyte’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to expire on Thursday, 7 February 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 27 January 2013.
BEST WIN and SEA DIAMOND were sent for sampling.
