Racing Incident Report

After being loaded, JUN HAO became fractious and then as the start was effected reared and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, JUN HAO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
RAINBOW FIGHTER began awkwardly.
From the outside barrier, READY TO CELEBRATE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
From a wide barrier, O’HALO, after beginning awkwardly, was also taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Passing the 1000 Metres, CHINA POWER got its head up when being steadied to allow MI SAVVY to cross.
RAINBOW FIGHTER proved difficult to settle for a considerable distance after the 900 Metres and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANCE FOR GOLD.
In the early part of the Straight, MY GOAL and MI SAVVY raced tight as MY GOAL attempted to shift out from behind HAPPY YEAH YEAH into clear running.
Passing the 200 Metres, DANCE FOR GOLD shifted out and brushed CHINA POWER.
Throughout the race, DANEWIN TIGER travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, W M Lai stated that he had been asked to ride REWARDING HERO in about 4th or 5th position if possible. He said as REWARDING HERO was having its first start at Happy Valley, he was asked to ensure that the horse was balanced rounding the turns as it is light-mouthed and may prove awkward when cornering. He said REWARDING HERO began only fairly and he was reluctant to ride his mount along in the early stages as Mr J Moore, the trainer of REWARDING HERO, had specifically stated that he wished for the horse to be balanced making the first turn. He said therefore he shifted REWARDING HERO in to race behind FUJIAN SPIRIT which itself was steadied to obtain cover behind CHINA POWER. He said this resulted in REWARDING HERO racing further back in the field than had been intended. He said REWARDING HERO travelled keenly in the middle stages and then was ridden along after the 500 Metres to improve its position. He added after being taken wider rounding the Home Turn when RAINBOW FIGHTER shifted out, REWARDING HERO finished off the race only fairly. A veterinary inspection of REWARDING HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RAINBOW FIGHTER, HAPPY YEAH YEAH and MY GOAL were sent for sampling.
