Racing Incident Report

BEAUTY LEAD was slow to begin.
RAINBOW CHIC was crowded for room at the start between MIZANI and WILLIE CAZALS which shifted out.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, LIBERATOR failed to muster speed.
After the 1400 Metres, BEAUTY LEAD was left racing wide and without cover.
RAINBOW CHIC was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 300 Metres, BUSINESS AS USUAL was steadied away from the heels of RAINBOW CHIC which shifted out to obtain clear running.
Near the 250 Metres, ENDOWING became badly unbalanced when heavily bumped by RAINBOW CHIC (C Y Ho) which, when shifting out from behind BEAUTY LEAD into clear running, then shifted out abruptly. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that RAINBOW CHIC’s racing manners at this time had contributed to this incident and that C Y Ho had attempted to take corrective measures to prevent RAINBOW CHIC from shifting out further, he was reprimanded and advised to take all available measures to prevent his mount from shifting ground and causing interference in similar circumstances.
When questioned regarding the performance of MIZANI, R Fourie stated that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo of the race in the middle stages. He said MIZANI came on and off the bridle during the race and passing the 600 Metres he was unable to improve his position when racing behind PACKING OK and IRIAN. He said the tempo of the race increased rounding the Home Turn and MIZANI was initially left flat-footed. He added MIZANI, in his opinion, finished off the race satisfactorily given the circumstances of tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of MIZANI immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MIZANI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that IRIAN had lost its left front plate.
MIZANI, RAINBOW CHIC and PURE CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
