Racing Incident Report

CROESUS was withdrawn on 11.11.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY HOMING. Before being allowed to race again, CROESUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GREAT RUN was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, GREAT RUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Acting on advice from the Veterinary Officer that MR AWARD sustained lacerations to the left hind leg in transit to the racecourse and consequently was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse prior to Race 1. Before being allowed to race again, MR AWARD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
YAT DING WIN began awkwardly, then shifted in and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of TEAM WORK which as a consequence was crowded onto VICTORY GENERAL which also shifted out slightly. In this incident, YAT DING WIN also became unbalanced.
Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, GOLDEN SCALPEL failed to muster speed.
When being steadied rounding the first turn, OVERDRIVE raced greenly, shifted in and made contact with TEAM WORK. OVERDRIVE continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter.
Approaching the 900 Metres, HAPPY HOMING had to be steadied away from the heels of SIGHT LOVER (T Angland) which shifted in when barely clear. T Angland was severely reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to provide sufficient clearance when shifting ground.
Approaching the Home Turn, OVERDRIVE got its head on the side, hung in and raced tight against TEAM WORK for some distance.
Over the concluding stages, GOLDEN SCALPEL improved to be racing in an awkward position close to the heels of SIGHT LOVER and inside HAPPY HOMING. As a consequence, GOLDEN SCALPEL could not be ridden out to the line as it normally would be.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that OVERDRIVE had bled form both nostrils.
SIGHT LOVER and HAPPY HOMING were sent for sampling.
<14/11/2013 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOREST COLOURS was found to be lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, FOREST COLOURS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
The Veterinary Officer reported that YAT DING WIN was found to have sustained a laceration to the left hind fetlock after the race.
