Racing Incident Report

JAMESINA, which was leaning on the inside of its stall, began awkwardly and lost ground.
From wide barriers, WRATH OF FIRE and AMBASSADORSHIP were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Passing the 1600 Metres, INDIGO WAY got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ENABLING which was being steadied.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, INDIGO WAY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ENABLING.
In the early part of the Straight, TODOS CON SUERTE got its head on the side and shifted in away from WINNING APEX and consequently was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MAZANDARAN.
Shortly after entering the Straight, ALWAYS SOMETHING was held up for clear running and for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres was checked away from the heels of MAZANDARAN. ALWAYS SOMETHING was then shifted to the outside of MAZANDARAN into clear running after the 100 Metres.
For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, AMBASSADORSHIP was held up for clear running.
Approaching the 50 Metres, WINNING APEX, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of AMBASSADORSHIP which was bumped by ALWAYS SOMETHING.
Throughout the race, WINNING APEX travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
When questioned, D Whyte stated that he had been instructed to ride ENABLING along in the early stages and obtain a forward position. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount vigorously in the early stages, however, ENABLING did not show sufficient pace to cross runners to its inside and the race, in his opinion, in the early stages was run at a solid tempo. He said rather than continue to ride ENABLING along and risk being caught wide, he elected, after going about 100 Metres, to attempt to obtain cover behind WINNING APEX. He said he was initially caught wide when INDIGO WAY improved its position to his inside and it was not until after the 1100 Metres that he was able to obtain a position with cover behind WINNING APEX.
A veterinary inspection of INDIGO WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMBASSADORSHIP, JAMESINA and FORGIVE AND FORGET were sent for sampling.
