Racing Incident Report

IT CAN ONLY BE YOU began only fairly.
Shortly after the start, LIGHTNING AND GOLD was crowded for room between FAIR WIND and NAUGHTY BABY which shifted in after being bumped by HELLO KIMBERLEY which also shifted in after making heavy contact with O’HALO on jumping.
EL GRANDE began awkwardly and shortly after the start was awkwardly placed inside the heels of YOU ARE THE ONE which shifted in after also beginning awkwardly.
Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, SOLAR BOY failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
Making the turn near the 600 Metres, MAROON PRINCE got its head on the side and lay out.
Approaching the 300 Metres, MISTER MARC, when improving into a run between O’HALO and HELLO KIMBERLEY, momentarily raced tight when HELLO KIMBERLEY got its head on the side and shifted in marginally.
N Callan (MAROON PRINCE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HELLO KIMBERLEY, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of MISTER MARC which was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. N Callan was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 6 March 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 23 February 2014.
Passing the 200 Metres, YOU ARE THE ONE, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside O’HALO which was taken in by HELLO KIMBERLEY which was racing tight inside MAROON PRINCE which continued to shift in under pressure. N Callan was severely reprimanded and advised he must at all times ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting in.
After the 200 Metres, NAUGHTY BABY got its head on the side, hung in and raced tight outside FAIR WIND. After this, NAUGHTY BABY continued to lay in under pressure.
After the race, MAROON PRINCE was found to have sustained wounds to both hind coronary bands whilst HELLO KIMBERLEY was found to have sustained an abrasion to the left front leg.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of YOU ARE THE ONE, M Demuro stated that after the horse began awkwardly, he had to make some minor use of it in the early stages to cross MISTER MARC on his inside. He said YOU ARE THE ONE travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages but came under pressure in the early part of the Straight. He added although YOU ARE THE ONE was momentarily crowded for room after the 200 Metres, the horse was giving ground at this time and, in his opinion, raced disappointingly. A veterinary inspection of YOU ARE THE ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of O’HALO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HELLO KIMBERLEY and MAROON PRINCE were sent for sampling.
