Racing Incident Report
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if WINDICATOR STAR had been afforded a fair start. Evidence was taken from Jockey C K Tong and Starter, Mr T McGovern. After taking evidence from both parties and after viewing the videos, it was established that prior to the start being effected WINDICATOR STAR turned its head to the left, resulting in the horse’s head being lodged behind the barrier partition with the adjoining stall despite the endeavours of C K Tong and the Starting Gate Handler to straighten its head. As WINDICATOR STAR continued to have its head lodged in this position for a period of time before the start was effected, the Stewards believed that it had not been afforded a fair start and accordingly WINDICATOR STAR was ruled to be a non-runner.
After the 1000 Metres, HAPPY BAO BEI got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.
Leaving the 800 Metres, HAPPY BAO BEI got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of ETON BLITZ, then after being corrected by its rider, M L Yeung, HAPPY BAO BEI shifted out abruptly near the 700 Metres, resulting in M L Yeung being dislodged. Mr T P Yung, the trainer of HAPPY BAO BEI, was advised prior to being permitted to race again, that horse, which was also fractious in the barriers, must perform satisfactorily in a series of consecutive official barrier trials around a bend. The Stewards also advised Mr Yung that HAPPY BAO BEI must be ridden in its barrier trials and future races by a senior rider. M L Yeung was subsequently examined by the Club’s doctor who advised that he was not fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
After the 700 Metres, ETON BLITZ got its head on the side and lay out.
After the 400 Metres, TOUR DE FORCE and TWIN DELIGHT raced tight as TOUR DE FORCE shifted out into clear running.
METALLIC STAR lost its left front plate at the 300 Metres.
TOUR DE FORCE and OUR FOLKS were sent for sampling.
