Racing Incident Report

SWEET BEAN and KERKENI began only fairly.
From the outside barrier, EQUITY DOCTRINE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KERKENI raced tight inside HOLY STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in away from ENJOY THE GAME.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, EQUITY DOCTRINE momentarily became unbalanced when racing tight inside BEST JADE TRIUMPH.
After the 450 Metres, HOLY STAR was crowded for room between YEUNG SING and ENJOY THE GAME which gave ground abruptly after travelling wide and without cover throughout.
KERKENI was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 200 Metres, LOYAL CRAFTSMAN raced in restricted room inside FRESH AND FRESH which shifted in when giving ground.
Approaching the 100 Metres, BEST JADE TRIUMPH was directed in away from the heels of MALAYAN PEARL to obtain clear running.
When questioned regarding his riding of BEST JADE TRIUMPH after the 600 Metres, B Prebble stated that as YEUNG SING improved its position forward behind FRANCE VALOUR approaching the 500 Metres, he did give consideration to shifting out to follow that horse, however, he believed that as the horse was carrying top weight, he felt it was a better option to obtain inside runs rather than having to cover extra ground by following YEUNG SING which was racing in about a four wide position. He said at the 400 Metres HOLY STAR came back in the face of BEST JADE TRIUMPH when that horse was crowded for room which resulted in him having to check BEST JADE TRIUMPH at this time. He said this incident was exacerbated by the fact that BEST JADE TRIUMPH was also wanting to lay out. He added after having to check away from the heels of HOLY STAR, he shifted BEST JADE TRIUMPH in and the horse then ran home well. B Prebble was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have shifted BEST JADE TRIUMPH out to follow YEUNG SING into the Straight which would have provided his mount with the opportunity to shift to that horse’s outside into clear and uninterrupted running. B Prebble was further advised to ensure that he affords his mounts the best opportunity to improve into the race so that they can finish off their race as best as they are able.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BEST JADE TRIUMPH had sustained a superficial wound to the inside of the left hock.
A veterinary inspection of KERKENI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SWEET BEAN and MALAYAN PEARL were sent for sampling.
