Racing Incident Report
FORTUNE GIGGLES was withdrawn on 30.8.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right front foot). Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE GIGGLES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
LIGHTNING AND GOLD began only fairly.
From a wide barrier, TELEPHATIA was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1400 Metres, MY FOLKS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JE PENSE (J Moreira) which shifted in when not quite clear. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, BEST TANGO got its head up on a number of occasions.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, BEST TANGO was steadied away from the heels of LIGHTNING AND GOLD (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear. O Doleuze was reprimanded.
Approaching the 900 Metres, MY FOLKS commenced to travel keenly and was steadied away from the heels of JE PENSE.
Near the 750 Metres, BEST TANGO got its head up when travelling close to the heels of LIGHTNING AND GOLD.
Passing the 400 Metres, BEST TANGO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LIGHTNING AND GOLD when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
After the 300 Metres, LIGHTNING AND GOLD lay in under pressure.
Apprentice H T Mo (SUPERNATURAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BEST TANGO, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. Apprentice Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 10 September 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 14 September 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Mo was fined $7,500.
Close to the finishing line, LIGHTNING AND GOLD raced tight inside SUPERNATURAL (Apprentice H T Mo) which got its head on the side and lay in. Because of this, Apprentice Mo was not able to ride his mount out all the way to the end of the race when obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount in an attempt to prevent further crowding to LIGHTNING AND GOLD. Also in this incident, O Doleuze was not able to ride out LIGHTNING AND GOLD all the way to the end of the race when tightened.
For the majority of the race, SUPERNATURAL travelled wide and without cover.
O Doleuze was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.
A veterinary inspection of TEAM SWEET and BEST TANGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEST TANGO, JE PENSE and AMRITSARIA were sent for sampling.
