Racing Incident Report

SAUL’S SPECIAL shifted out at the start and bumped COMPUTER PATCH.
WATER DIVINER and GOLD CHEST were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
BEAUTY APPLAUSE, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began only fairly and then after being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position travelled very wide and without cover.
After travelling a short distance, DUKE WAI shifted in and bumped HONG KONG BET, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Approaching the 900 Metres, KINGS SHIELD was momentarily eased away from the heels of SAUL’S SPECIAL (Apprentice K H Chan) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Chan was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
After being shifted away from the rail in the early part of the race, VOYAGE WARRIOR shifted out marginally after being crossed by SAUL’S SPECIAL near the 800 Metres which resulted in COUNTRY STAR, which was travelling keenly, being crowded for room inside KINGS SHIELD. When travelling keenly, COUNTRY STAR shifted out and made contact with KINGS SHIELD which resulted in COUNTRY STAR becoming unbalanced and losing ground near the 700 Metres. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider carelessness involved in this incident, no further action was taken.
COUNTRY STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 250 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of VOYAGE WARRIOR as that horse lay out under pressure. When COUNTRY STAR was shifted out, BEAUTY APPLAUSE, which was commencing to give ground, was brushed.
Throughout the race, KINGS SHIELD travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of HONG KONG BET and BEAUTY APPLAUSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLD CHEST and DUKE WAI were sent for sampling.
