Racing Incident Report
HARMONY SPIRIT shifted out at the start and bumped PARTERRE.
ROYAL BOMB began awkwardly.
SUNNY STAR began only fairly and then was steadied away from the heels of HEAVENLY THOUGHT which shifted out.
MURRAY’S PARTNERS began awkwardly and then was bumped by BLAZING BEAT which shifted out.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, HARMONY SPIRIT was steadied away from the heels of ROYAL BOMB.
J Moreira (WEALTHY DELIGHT) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 600 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavours to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in ROYAL BOMB being unnecessarily crowded for room and losing ground after becoming badly unbalanced. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 3 March 2021 and to expire on Monday, 8 March 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Moreira was fined $60,000.
Near the 350 Metres, MURRAY’S PARTNERS was steadied away from the heels of SUNNY STAR (A Badel) after being disappointed for running inside that horse when attempting to take a tight run. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that MURRAY’S PARTNERS had not properly established running to the inside of SUNNY STAR, nonetheless A Badel was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.
Passing the 300 Metres, HEAVENLY THOUGHT was shifted out away from the heels of BLAZING BEAT which shifted out after being brushed by SUNNY STAR.
Approaching the 100 Metres, MURRAY’S PARTNERS was shifted in away from the heels of ROYAL BOMB which was racing tight inside HARMONY SPIRIT (Apprentice C L Chau) which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice Chau was advised to exercise more in similar circumstances.
SUNNY STAR and WEALTHY DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
