Racing Incident Report
On jumping, A AMERIC TE SPECSO was checked when crowded between MARK THE MOMENT and KEEP YOU WARM which jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. In this incident, MARK THE MOMENT was bumped by the hindquarters of A AMERIC TE SPECSO and became unbalanced.
EXCELLENT FIGHTER jumped awkwardly.
STREET SCREAM and PULSAR STRIDER bumped shortly after the start.
KOKUSHI MUSOU raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race, Z Purton (MARK THE MOMENT) stated that his mount raced "flat”, failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of MARK THE MOMENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MARK THE MOMENT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MARK THE MOMENT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of SUPER FORTUNE, Trainer A S Cruz stated that, in his opinion, SUPER FORTUNE was advantaged by being able to lead in a race run slower than standard time in the early stages and also appreciated racing on the "Good to Yielding” track conditions.
A veterinary inspection of EXCELLENT FIGHTER immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, EXCELLENT FIGHTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EXCELLENT FIGHTER, SUPER FORTUNE and SOLID SHALAA were sent for sampling.
