AGENDA (K160) jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and her
mount losing ground. The Stewards opened an inquiry into rider’s riding out of the horse
in the Home Straight. Rider stated that her intention was to hold a more forward position
but in the early stages was unable to do so. She said throughout the event her mount hung
in and proved difficult to ride out. She added entering the Home Straight her mount was
hampered when taken wider by a runner when that runner shifted out at that point. She
said thereafter she was reluctant to ride her mount out as it continued to hang in and she
was concerned if she rode it along it would shift in and either cause interference or be
awkwardly placed on the heels of the runners in front. She further stated that for that
reason she was unable to fully test the horse over the final 400M. Trainer confirmed the
instructions issued and acknowledged the horse had previously hung in in its races and
races best when being able to be positioned close to the running rail. After considering
her evidence the Stewards advised rider that, wherever possible, she must ensure that she
fully tests her mounts during a race. However, having regard to her explanations which
were provided to the Stewards immediately after the race no action was taken. Post-race
vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Has since performed to the
satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial starting from a wide barrier which must
include the horse being ridden out under pressure - Race 201. |
