The Stewards were satisfied that the horse turned its head towards the inside as the start was effected and lost ground when being assisted by the starting gate handler and therefore was declared a runner. Barrier manners were considered unacceptable. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial - Race 242.
2 K008  CROSSBORDERPEGASUS  31/05/2025   725  CROSSBORDERPEGASUS (K008) when questioned rider stated that he was given no specific instructions other than to settle where comfortable. He said with the early stages of the event being run at a genuine pace his mount settled further back than what he had anticipated. He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, whilst his mount lay in, it responded to his efforts to shift to the outside of a runner. He added when placed under pressure near the 200M his mount hung in and as a result he was not able to fully test the horse over the final 200M. Trainer stated that he had applied blinker with one cowl to the horse in an attempt to improve its racing manners and would now consider giving the horse a break from racing. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. The Stewards determined that as a warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners at its last race start. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and ridden out in that barrier trial - Race 725.
