4 5 CHARMING CITY (BT182) B Marcus B1 Always prominent 1.5Ls off pace in centre of track, every chance 200 M out, not come on.
5 13 SPARKY (BT125) K H Ting B Not break well and last early on 6Ls off pace and furthest from the inside rail, stayed on well closing stages to 4.5Ls down 400 M out and 2.5Ls down 200 M out, nearest finish. (See Racing Incidents.)
6 7 PLENTY-PLENTY (BS191) W M Lai -- Raced about 4Ls off pace throughout, made some headway through beaten horses inside final 200 M out but never looked like a landing blow.
7 3 KING OF DANES (CA138) F Coetzee TT Broke well and soon led by 1L until 400 M out when overhauled by SOLID CONTACT 350 M, weakened quickly thereafter and well beaten at line.

10 1 ORIENTAL EXPRESS (BP187) E Legrix B Kept close to early pace, pushed to find another gear 400 M out, one-paced and finished eased down.
11 11 CHAMP DE UNION (CB001) M W Leung SR Held up one from rear early before tacking onto main group 3Ls off pace 400 M out, effort from 400 M marker but made little impact and became detached again from 200 M out.
12 12 TAJASUR (BV236) D Dunn -- Raced up with pace until 400 M out, not come on and backpedalled markedly final stages.
13 6 LUCKY WIN (CB093) J Egan -- Raced prominently on rail 1L off pace until 500 M out when niggled to keep effort going, swamped by rivals 350 M out, came home in own time as if something amiss. (See Racing Incidents.)
