2 9 DEREK'S CHOICE (BV137) O Doleuze -- Pushed along but outpaced at rear 7 or 8Ls off lead. Steady improvement from Rock and was 3Ls down turning in. Ran on quite well in straight though never looked likely to give winner any threat.
3 1 SEREVI (CA293) D Whyte B 3Ls off speed in midfield on fence. Crept a bit closer swinging into straight, kept on same pace to the line.
4 8 HAPPY CHAMP (BS226) S Dye B Midfield briefly, soon steadily dropped towards rear. Niggled along from 900 M to move a bit closer before going into home turn. Kept on after making slight progress inside 200 M.
5 4 VICTORY MASTER (CA223) D Dunn B/TT Broke smartly and disputing lead, held 1L advantage one off rail 800 M out. Crossed over to be on rail from Rock. Headed 200 M out and gave ground steadily. (Lame.)
6 6 TELECOM BABE (CA187) Y T Cheng -- At rear, wide early then 8Ls off lead 2-wide from 900 M. Ran past beaten runners in straight.
7 2 GOOD FRIENDS (BV213) S K Sit SR Hard ridden on exiting but trapped wide behind midfield going into first bend. 3-wide towards rear from 900 M. Under pressure from 500 M, found little and only ran past tired runners.
8 3 KING LION (CB091) Hammer-Hansen -- Soon dropped back to 3-wide rear of midfield. Dropped further from 600 M and was last of main group entering straight. Ran past well beaten runners.
9 5 QUICK NEWS (CB178) F Coetzee -- Handy 4th 3-wide until 500 M where it began to struggle to keep up. Weaken further final 200 M.
10 12 WELL EXPRESS (BV023) K H Ting P Pushed forward but only managed position 3-wide 3Ls off lead forward of midfield. Hung out badly from home bend and soon beaten when rider lost off side iron from 400 M to 100 M out.
11 11 LEGEND OF WEI HAI (BV283) K C Tsang -- Ridden forward and 5-wide behind leaders going into first bend. Still prominent 3rd when 3-wide from 900 M. Emptied 400 M out and dropped away steadily.
12 10 GOT IT RIGHT (CB258) W M Lai -- Slow to jump and soon left behind, always trailing field by big margin.
