4 9 TRAVELLER STAR (BT232) F Coetzee TT Broke best, then raced 3-wide 4Ls off pace in midfield. Shifted to 5-wide entering straight to commence run, ran on until one paced concluding stages and just missed a place.
5 7 CALIFORNIA KID (CA219) D Dunn B/TT Well there early then took up a rail run in midfield 5Ls off pace. Saved ground to move closer upon straightening. Plugged on without quickening.
6 10 HIN YUEN'S UNICORN (BS319) W Woods -- Ridden early but outpaced. Worse than midfield. 3-wide 6-7Ls behind pace. Shifted wider entering straight, made up little ground on outer without threatening.
7 6 CARRY THE NEWS (CB191) S Dye -- Towards rear on the fence. Hung in from home turn and under pressure 400 M out, unable to produce extra, one paced to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)
8 8 MASTER YING (CB249) W M Lai -- Jumped clearly, 2-3Ls off lead along the rail. Shifted away from the rail to commence run on straightening. Unable to quicken, gave ground inside final 150 M.
9 1 QUICK NEWS (CB178) M Cahill -- Always midfield. Kept on one pace in straight.
10 14 PLEASANT SUCCESS (CA164) Y T Cheng -- From a difficult gate steadied, shifted across behind runners at the rear. Checked near the 300 M, made up little ground when into clear final 200 M. (See Racing Incidents.)
11 2 KONRAD THE GREAT (CB059) M W Leung B1 Outpaced early, steadily dropped to the tail. Ran past a few beaten runners closing stages.
12 5 SHOW WIN (CB110) W C Marwing -- Better than midfield 2 or 3-wide, crept closer rounding the home bend. Weakened steadily 300 M out.
13 4 MARSHALL SPIRIT (CA016) E Saint-Martin -- Niggled to go forward, sat outside leader near the 900 M. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn, unable to keep up from 300 M, dropped out steadily.
