3 12 AIN'T HERE (CC288) B Prebble -- 2-wide and 8Ls off pace in 8th at 1400 M, about 4Ls down in mid-division at 800 M, loomed a threat off the home turn and was 2Ls down at the 200 M, stayed on well for a place.
4 11 SHANE (CC232) A Marcus -- 10Ls off pace and 2-wide in 11th at 1400 M, 5Ls off pace in rear at the 800 M and same on straightening, ran on strongly late on to be nearest at the finish.

6 8 PERFECT PARTNER (CD163) P Payne -- 7Ls off pace and 2-wide in 5th at 1400 M, 4-wide without cover 3Ls down in 4th at 600 M, 2Ls 4th entering straight, every chance 300 M out, all out when 1L down at 200 M, no extra, faded.
7 7 INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS (CC317) O Peslier -- Switched inside exiting wide gate, 10Ls off pace and 3-wide with cover in 13th at 1400 M, 4Ls down in midfield at 800 M, outpaced when 6-wide into home straight, never much of a threat.
8 4 RAIDER (CC009) R Fradd -- Slowly away, 12Ls last at the 1400 M, 3-wide with cover and 5Ls off pace in rear at 800 M, 6Ls last and 7-wide (widest of all) on the swing, a little headway to be 4Ls down in 10th at the 200 M, no extra.
9 5 THE DUKE (CB282) C Williams -- Pressed on to lead, went about 4Ls clear 1600 M, 1L clear from 1200 M to home straight when all out, headed 300 M out, faded steadily.
10 6 SATURN (CD154) W M Lai -- Slowest away, tended to over-race on fence through first half of race, 9Ls down in 10th 1400 M out, 5Ls down in 12th at 800 M and much the same off home turn, kept on only at the same pace.
11 14 MAGIC MAIL (CD095) D Oliver -- Keen when caught 3-wide without cover and 8Ls off pace in 6th at the 1400 M, pressed on 1L off pace in 2nd out 2-wide from 1200 M to home turn, all out to vie for lead 300 M out, faded fast.
12 9 LIBERAL'S CHOICE (CC345) S Dye -- 3Ls off pace on fence in 2nd at 1600 M, 2Ls down in 3rd at 1200 M and at 800 M, under pressure to lie up turning for home, weakened.
13 10 LUCKY PARADISE (CB441) D Dunn -- Fractious in gates, 4-wide without cover when 9Ls off pace in 12th at 1400 M, pressed on 3Ls down in 6th but still without cover at 800 M, hard ridden when 5-wide into stretch, dropped out.
