2 11 COMME D'HABITUDE (CA107) D Whyte B Began fairly and pushed along to race in prominent position 2-wide through to straight. Responded well when asked 350 M out but was unable to match speed with the winner inside final 100 M to settle for 2nd place.
3 3 SERIOUS PLAY (CC003) H W Lai -- Broke fairly and hard ridden along to race in midfield or better on rail. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running. Under pressure 350 M out and made up steady ground inside final 200 M to grab 3rd place near the line.
4 12 SUGAR AND SPICE (CA176) C W Wong B Jumped well and niggled along to race outside the leader. Took narrow lead 400 M and held 1-1/2Ls advantage early straight. One-paced after 200 M and was overhauled by the placegetters final stages.
5 5 SMART HORSE (BV096) O Doleuze -- Began fairly and pushed along to be box-seated behind the leader through to straight. Kept on fairly when asked 350 M out but became one-paced inside final 150 M.
6 1 FAT CHANCE (CC160) H K Yim B Slowly away and raced in a rearward position and 2-wide. Switched wide and made little progress rounding the home bend. Under pressure 400 M out and make up little ground inside 200 M to be closest at finish.
7 8 GOOD WIN (CB235) G Mosse -- Pushed along but slightly outpaced in the early stages to race in midfield or better wide without cover. Made slight improvement down back straight and rounding the home bend. Kept on same pace in straight and weakened inside 200 M.
8 7 BARAKA (CD284) J Holder -- Tardy start and niggled along to race in midfield or worse on rail. Ridden along at home bend to maintain position. Only able to keep on evenly to the line when asked 400 M out.
9 10 HOLY QUEST (CA309) A Marcus -- Began well and pushed along to the narrow lead on rail. Around the 400 M mark was headed and failed to quicken. Further weakened inside final 200 M.
10 6 ROMAN BOY (CD283) R Fradd -- Soon raced in worse than midfield around 2-wide. Switched wide and made little headway rounding the home bend. Only able to keep one-paced in straight and slightly weakened over the concluding stages.
11 14 SPLIT SECONDS (CC275) F Coetzee P/CP Jumped awkwardly and raced in midfield 2-wide but proved very difficult to settle in the middle stages. Ridden along to hold position at home bend. Failed to make any impression in straight.
