2 5 EVEREST (CC196) P Payne B Began fairly and niggled along to race in midfield or better on rail through to straight. Near the 300 M was slightly held up, soon obtained clear running and ran on well to match 2nd place on the line. (Lame.)
3 8 LONGMARK (BT294) G Schofield -- Broke well from wide draw and ridden along to take lead on rail with no more than 1-1/2Ls advantage to straight. Ran on fairly when asked 300 M out but failed to fend off challenges from the 1st pair to settle for 3rd.
4 7 BROWN BEAUTY (CC029) R Fradd V Tardy start from widest and niggled along to race in midfield or worse 2-wide through to straight. Under pressure 300 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M but without threatening the placegetters.
5 10 OSCAR STAR (CC046) S Dye -- Began fairly and soon raced in a forward position 2-wide. Under pressure at home bend to maintain position. Kept on fairly in early part of straight but became one-paced inside final 150 M.
6 1 NOBLE WIND (CD175) D Whyte SR/TT Slow to begin and ridden along to race in better than midfield 2-wide. Pushed along to maintain position turning for home. All out 250 M out but failed to quicken and only able to keep on evenly to the line.

8 3 CHINA WORLD (CA397) A Marcus -- Began well and pushed along to race in a forward position 3-wide without cover through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 300 M and further weakened inside final 200 M.
9 4 CUPID (BV043) P H Lo SR Slowly away from wide draw and soon settled at the tail on rail through to straight. Kept on same pace when asked 300 M out and only ran past several beaten runners inside final 200 M.
10 2 OLIVE OR TWIST (CB271) T Mundry B Unable to muster early speed to race in a rearward position on inner. Hard ridden to hold position making the home turn. Unable to make any impression in straight.
11 12 VIPER CORP (CA183) C Williams -- Soon settled in a rearward position 2 to 3-wide with cover. Switched to the widest on straightening to obtain clear running but failed to show anything.
12 11 HIGH PRICE (CD206) W M Lai -- Soon raced in mid-division 3-wide with cover. Commenced to give ground after the 400 M mark and tailed out in straight.
