3 5 DR WELL (CD165) S Dye -- Jumped fairly and niggled along to race in a handy position through to straight. Responded fairly when asked 400 M out and near 100 M was crowded for room. Grabbed 3rd place near the line but without troubling the 1st pair.
4 12 SWEET SMILE (CC211) T Mundry B Tardy start and steadily eased to a rearward position 3-wide through to straight. Had trouble finding clear running in straight, ran on well when clear running was obtained 150 M out to miss 3rd place narrowly.
5 7 MASTER MARAUDER (CA184) A Delpech -- Broke well from wide draw and took outright lead on rail near the 1200 M mark with no more than 1L advantage to straight. Kept on well when asked 300 M out but was headed 100 M out and became one-paced thereafter.
6 2 HAPPY TOGETHER (CC218) H W Lai SB/SR Slow to begin and ridden along to race in midfield or better on rail through to straight. Kept on fairly when asked 400 M out but became one-paced inside the final 150 M.
7 4 NOBLE HEART (CC355) K H Chan -- Broke fairly from widest and steadily came across to race outside the leader through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but only able to run on evenly and slightly weakened over the concluding stages.
8 3 TELECOM TYCOON (CC039) G Schofield V Jumped fairly but unable to muster early speed to race in midfield or worse on rail through to straight. Kept on same pace and only ran past several beaten runners in the closing stages.
9 10 FUJI SUNRISE (CD100) G Mosse B Pushed along to race in a handy position 3-wide without cover through to straight. Only kept on evenly when asked 400 M out, checked near the 200 M when crowded for room and further weakened thereafter.
10 6 HANDBAG PREMIER (CD137) D Whyte -- Began well and soon raced in a handy position 2-wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but failed to quicken and near the 200 M was checked when crowded for room, made no impression thereafter.
11 13 TAIJI SPIRIT (CD185) M Zahra SR/TT Slow to begin and raced in the rear section on rail. Switched out on straightening to find clear running. Under pressure 350 M out but only able to run on evenly to the line.
12 1 CHECK MATE (CC259) M W Leung B Began fairly from wide draw and steadily eased to the tail of the field. Reminded in same position to straight. Unable to make any impression in the straight.
13 8 ORIENTAL (CC202) Y T Cheng B1 Pushed along to race in midfield or worse 4-wide without cover through to straight. Found nothing when asked 400 M out and steadily faded inside final 200 M.
14 9 EUPHORIC KID (CB165) K W Tsui B- Raced in midfield or better 3-wide. Commenced to lose ground steadily rounding the home turn and made no impression in the straight.
