4 1 FLYING SPRINTER (CD021) H K Yim B Broke awkwardly and was ridden to a forward position. Kept within a length of the pace before improving into a disputed lead on straightening. Held a slim lead at 300 M but failed to hold off the principals thereafter.
5 2 ELFHELM (CC342) B Prebble B Raced one off the fence at midfield. Made up some ground but unable to threaten in the closing stages.
6 6 WINNING PARADE (CA283) M Rodd B/TT 3-wide and better than midfield. Improved gradually on straightening and closed to within 2Ls of the leaders. Unable to turn up a notch closing stages.
7 3 FOREVER WIN (CC069) B Doyle B Settled 3-wide behind midfield. Responded fairly and made up some ground in the straight.
8 10 METRO FLYER (CA072) C Williams B- Settled on fence at midfield. Shuffled back slightly rounding home turn. Raced evenly to line.
9 8 SOLDIER ON (CD230) F Coetzee -- Bobbled the start and trailed field until straightening. Closed the race off only fairly.
10 11 STAR OF LIHLIN (CD262) R Fradd -- Began well and was ridden to be close to pace. Gradually drift back towards midfield at home turn. Lacked a rally in the straight.
11 5 TOP HEALTH (CD015) Y Lerner -- Raced wide and without cover at midfield early stages. Commenced to improve at 1000 M and joined leaders in a 3-wide position making home turn. Remained in contention before bowing out inside final 300 M. (Mucus.)
12 7 ORIENTAL (CC202) G Mosse B- Raced on fence towards the back and was last to enter home straight. Only ran past a pair of weakening runners.
13 14 WIN FORTUNE (CB338) A Delpech B/TT Quickest out and raced in the lead before settling behind the leader at 1000 M. Continued to stay within a length of the pace into home straight. Found no extra in the final stages.
14 12 SUPER WINNER (CD062) G Schofield SR Midfield early stages and gradually worked its way to the lead at 900 M. Held a slim advantage on straightening before being swamped final 400 M.
